New GMC Topkick

Post by Olbird »

Well I did it, It will be in the driveway Monday. Had to change insurance companies because most do not insure Meduim Duty trucks because of the gross weight of the truck being over 11,000 lbs.
It was hard to find all the options I wanted, I have been looking all across the country and found it within 400 miles from me in Oregon.
Made a great deal but I got to tell you it was hard to make a deal when you fall in LOVE. Had to play like I did not want the truck until the price was right at the Peterbuilt / GMC dealership.

George,

Great Looking vehicle! :D :bounce:

Now you are going to have to get out in the Cardinal more to justify the purchase! Good that you got all the options you wanted as well as a resaonable price! What engine and transmission did you get in it? Does it have the air hitch and if you did how will that work with your air ride pin box?

I will be a tough weekend waiting to get possession on Monday!

Well Mike, you know me I always research the mechanics of everything too much to understand loads, best engine and transmission matches, etc.

Once I knew what combination I was looking for it became very hard to locate one, it has the Duramax 6.6L with the Allison 2350 transmission, and 4.56 ratio rear end.

The GCWR jumps up from 26,500 # to 30,000 # with a 2350 Allison.
It has Air-Ride suspension, air ride cab, air seats, DVD/ TV drop down, all leather, navigation, built-in rear camera, electric fold-down rear seat, hot & cold temperature drink holders, real black walnut wood trim, air horns, suspension kneel down system that lowers the complete truck about 4”- 6” for easy 5th wheel hook up needed, polished aluminum wheels, onboard air system and storage tank, 200 amp charging system, LED lighting package, 110 gallon diamond plate auxiliary fuel tank, stainless steel exhaust, center walnut floor and roof console, electric exhaust brake and a lot more.
It is fun getting new toys.

I will put up some pictures when I take them.

Rob,
They took truck on trade, I work two deals separate of each other so I would not get caught up in playing with numbers.
Made the best deal on the new truck up front without a trade, then had them go out for quotes on the F350 because this was a Heavy Truck Dealership that does not deal with reselling smaller trucks, cars, etc.
The quotes came back in line with market pricing for my truck at this time and you know in Washington trade-in taxes are credited to the new truck taxes.

It works both ways with the big three truck makers giving $14,000 to $18,000 off new trucks to move them in this bad economy you can almost buy new for the price of used.

Plus I took everything I added off the truck to sell separate, Firestone Air Bags, Built-in Am/Fm/CD in dash three camera system, Smart-tire pressure and tire monitor system, Pull-Rite 5th wheel swivel hitch system and mounting supports, Stainless Steel 5th wheel bed tool box and any other goody's that could be sold because the new truck has it all already installed.

If you want to compare size side by side here is a picture of another one I test drove next to my truck, these things are 95" wide, 169" wheel base and roof line is 8' high.

George,

A friend of mine has one of these. Pulls a 36' Teton (full timer) with it and just loves it.
Nice truck. Congrats.
