Ok, you should be fine!! :thumbrt: Sound alot like me. I have done many street rods, restorations, cage cars, and custom built comm light and medium duty trucks. You covered most mods needed. The biggest is the wheel base, longer than the F 350. Some peopls move the bed back so the duallie fenders line up over the wheels. Then you have a gap at the cab. When they built mine, they used a single wheel bed and mounted it behind the cab where it belongs. Then added the duallie fenders all the way back to the tail lamps. Gives a nice stock look.
My next project is going to be Kelderman air ride for the rear end.

Longer wheel base you say? I asked the salesman to measure cab to axle center and he came up with 1/2 in diff than my f 350 and I chalked it up to estimating the center of the wheel. Or he just may not know what he is doing L-) , anyway saturday is the day I will go look. Now just waitin for the info from the Ex, she said she came up with a copy of the original window sticker and build sheet also. Why couldn't she have been so helpful while together?????? :-\

I just went on ebay and looked at some pics, they seem to have a 4in or so filler in front of the bed so my guess is bad measure by salesman =((

No problem, I like the moving the fenders back idea better, Custom!

Thanks Gmarker, all the info I can collect is being absorbed as we type so thankyou very much.

Matt,
It is just about 4 inch diff. Salsman with a tape measure? #-o The thing with moving the fenders back is to start with a single wheel bed. Otherwise you have all the forward fender mounting holes in the bed to deal with.
If you want to PM me your email address, I'll send you pics of what mine looks like

This may be a late response but, I have 58,000 on my 04 Ford 6.0. It had 37,000 when I got it. Before the Cardinal I towed a 36' Mountaineer, so it has always been loaded. The only problem I have encountered was blowing the turbo hose off. I replaced the hose and have not had it happen again. Towing here in WV is not an easy task, we have lots of 2 lane roads that have more than 9% grade. My truck is stock except for the exaust and air filter. So far it is a great truck.

not late at all, I appreciate all responses, now I'm waiting for the dealer to get back to me with their idea of a "deal" vs mine. Also I am still weighing my options.

Matt I love my 6.0 and the torque shift tranny, Keep it stock and run the heck out of it you have to run them hard to keep the turbo from rusting up, I do a lot of starting mine moving it out of the garage to do side work and shuting it off. what happens is the vanes rust from me not running it long enough. so I have cleaned my turbo twice since i have had the truck. I say go for it but run it hard dont baby it.

i pulled 2 different cardinals with my 2005 f250 w/6.0 diesel, a 2004 29wble and a 2005 30ts. i put over 36000 miles on the truck pulling those 2 birds with no problems. until 80,000 mile mark. on a trip pulling from chattanooga to baton rouge i blew an oil cooler and egr cooler. the wrecker driver that picked us up drove up and asked simply, "is that a 6 .0?" he laughed and said he picked up about one a week on the side of the road. when we got back to baton rouge, the dealer took over a week to determine what the problem was and then said it might also have blown head gaskets. traded that puppy in on a 2008 chevy duromax/allison! since then i've talked with several people who had similar problems. just be aware that the 6.0 has a history of blown oil coolers and head gaskets.

Mike Did you ever chip your 6.0? I know that may people did have some issues But 90% of them were form them chiping them, I did head gaskets on mine last year I also did studs. My truck had 106K the same engine in the IH truck runs 250HP and they never ave head gasket troubles the trouble is ford all ready boosted the power up on the 6.0 then these guys boost it higher way past what it is made to do.

nope, no chips! also had dealer do all scheduled service. i really babied that truck! i loved it right up until the time it blew the coolers. i had 80,000 trouble free miles on it, but when it stranded us on the side of the interstate, my wife said she wouldn't go camping in it again! thus, the new chevy.

Ford makes an excellent diesel fuel additive. They have one for cold weather that wil prevent fuel gel and one for summer.
They boost cetane, add lubricity, reduce soot, etc. You will also get a little better mileage. You can treat 100 gallons for about $7.50. It comes in a convenient 20oz. bottle and is available at every Ford parts counter.

Matt,

Good luck on the new ride. You won't be able to sneak in or out of the campgrounds anymore.
