Recent fuel price increase

Post by bilmorvn »

When I got our morning newspapers today in Opelika AL at the truck stop which is the local area price leader, had a real shock. Diesel had jumped from $1.86 to $2.13 overnight! Oil had only gone up a few cents a barrel. Don't like it.

I toped off my truck last night at Wal-Mart Humboldt, Tn. and the price was 1.91. I guess it was just a matter of time that the price would start back up. 8)

Local Wal-Marts are selling diesel for $2.00 total a gallon. I don't let my tank get very low these days before filling up.

Since we left about Feb 1, we have hovered around the $2.00 mark all the way down to Florida and now on the way home.. Best price we found was at Wally in Sanford, FL, and it was $1.82. Will fuel up before we leave for the last leg of the tirp home tomorrow (just south of Indianapolis), so will know then. The BIG fuel tanks sure do help to keep us on the road, with fewer stops.!! Diesel here has stayed at $1.91, gas has risen from $1.69 to as high as $1.95. Of course it's "Spring Break" and the "demand" is up a little so the oil companies gotta get their extra profit when they can.

Several weeks ago we filled up in Yuma, AZ for $1,69 at a Flying J, the same day we drove to Phoenix and the price for diesel was $2.30. #-o

I added fuel Saturday morning go to my son's and paid $1.91 minus .06 for a total of $1.86. I have a Flying J frequent fueler card. I stopped at the same station (after hitting the cement pieces) for $1.96 (minus the .06). Today its at $2.02. Now all of the local stations here are $2.15+. The Flying J fueler card helps a little.

I saw a station in Mesa, AZ today that the price was $1.99. It was on the other side of the road so I thought I would go to the Post Office and fill up on the return trip. Short time later when I stopped it was $2.09.

That will teach me to put off buying. =((

It's amazing just how greedy the oil companies have become. A few record years of profits from gouging us by jacking the prices sky high and now they expect to make it every year.
Here in Ontario we are being robbed in the neigbourhood of $3,45 a US gallon for regular. To top it off Esso charges 52cents a gallon premium for 91 octane.
$2.00 a gallon is very reasonable compaired to what we lucky Canadians get to pay
