Squeeking U-Joint

Post by RevHam »

Howdy All -

I seem to have a squeeking u-joint that has suddenly appeared. My only problem is that I am about 700 miles from home with the RV. Any problem in waiting until I get home to get this looked at?

Thanks

Personally I'd unhitch and get it replaced as quickly as possible. The last thing you need is a frozen-up U-joint out in the middle of nowhere.

And if it freezes up at 60 mph while towing you could have a serious accident as well as tear-up a lot more expensive equipment.

Sometimes U-joints make noise for a while -- and other times they freeze up solid without warning.

I agree with Woody if indeed it is a u-joint going bad I would go get it fixed right away 700 miles towing is a long way with a dry/wore out u-joint

Thanks y'all for the input. I have the truck at a dealership. It was the u-joint. Said it would take a few hours and it was covered by the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty (thank the Lord). They even gave us a rental!

Thanks again!
