Ford ups the game

Post by Samsbird »

Ford announced today that they will increase power and payload/capacity ratings, sure makes me want to trade the ole 6.0 in on one of those new machines. I guess I will just have to be patient for the time being.

All the manufacturers are increasing hp, weights, brakes, tranys, comfort features, everything, including the price! I think they need new marketing. Maybe if they raise quality, extend warranties, don't change anything but lower the price they will sell more! They certainly should have happy customers.

Since the '11 Super Duty's arrived on the showroom, I've been seeing quite a few on the roads. Nice looking trucks. I've looked at a couple, but haven't driven one yet as I haven't gotten the '09 broken in yet. ;)

I know what Ford says but thats a pretty large increase hope they hold together. Maybe in a couple weeks i can go to the dealer and get a flash to 500 hp and 900 ft lbs of torque =))

Here is a press release:

I'm cautious about all the upgrading. The 6.4 is maxed, enough so that some of the aftermarket people don't recommend "chipping" it up if you are pulling a trailer. Ford designed and is building the 2011 engine in house, you can hope they know how much they can push it.

Yeah, it appears that they have already certified several different power ratings in anticipation of having to raise the output. So far it looks like the reports are encouraging.

I wish they all would lower them some, so you could still get fuel mileage. Then throw a chip on it to get the power you want. The aftermarket makes power were you need it. they are just looking at absolute on a dyno and due to the emission stuff they don't make the power where they need it. I'll stick with my paid off old technology and just keep rebuilding them.
