Daimler Goes Green with BlueTec® SCR Emissions Technology

Post by Chief409 »

I just ran across this and thought it may interest those who have questions about the new emissions controls for the 2011 diesels.

Watch the videos, they have good information about DEF availability and pricing reported by the large truck companies in the SCR Simple video. I did have to pause the video and allow it to fully download to play it.

I can buy def for 4.95 per gallon now and the tank holds a little over 5 gallons and should last around 5k miles per tank so thats not bad. I will know next week when i take the truck in for an oil change before Yellowstone i should have used just under 2 gallons. The truck has 1,800 miles on it now For those of you that will need def peak makes bluedef which has the specs gm is looking for plus the dealerships dropped their price from 15.00 per gallon to 4.95 at least my dealer did

Last I heard the 2011 Cummins won't have to use it. Ford and Chevy both do on thier '11 models. Diamler doesn't own Ram any more either.

Well at 2000 miles only 264 of those towing got my oil, filter allison spin on filter and the wee tank filled today. It only took 1 3/4 gallons so its right in line with what GM says about 1 gallon per 1k miles. Now towing will be a different story and i bought two gallons to bring along just in case until i get use to what this truck will need with long pulls. :thumbrt: Plus regens are now at 700 miles in between each one and the mileage does not drop near as much as the 08 did, they use an injector now in the exhaust .
