I ran across this in Light and Medium Truck, since they don't allow any form of copying their material I decided to sum things up and post a link to a .gov site.
What this is about is a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for truck tires used on commercial vehicles with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds.
The link to the Department of Transportation site is:
http://www.regulations.gov
Enter Document Number 2010-24347 in the Search box. You can download a Word or PDF formatted document.
I just skimmed thru the information, and one thing that jumps out is tire failure at high speed and low inflation. Now this is in laboratory conditions, various tire brands were tested. AT HIGH SPEEDS, WITH LOW INFLATION, NONE OF THE TIRES TESTED COULD COMPLETE THE TESTS.
So don't forget to check the tire pressures, on both the truck and the trailer!
