My 6.0 with 3.73 gears would gain speed on some hills after shifting on its own. I think due to the 6.0 high rpm capabilities, it ran like a small block, because it was. The Dodge does not seem to have that ability because the peak torque is at the low rpm, it is like a big block. I have found that if I manually shift the Dodge to a lower gear before it slows that it will maintain the speed a lot easier. The 4.10 gear in the Dodge should help.

Dave,
When I bought my truck in the late summer of 09, my choices were limited to either this white one or several black ones. I chose the white one and it came with the 3.73 gears. It was a spur of the moment buy. Hey I like the truck alot, but I do miss the 4.10 gearing. Since I live in Bayou country(flat), I can live with the 3.73 gears and the six speed tranny.

I cant wait to tow the trailer and see how it does. Today I installed 6 new tires and put the 7 pin plug in the bed. Now i need to install my Max brake controler. I just dont know where im going to put it. I have to get some picks so I can update my profile and avatar. Im sure im best with the 4:10 with my rv it is 15,500.

I have to say Dave that I'm interested in what you think about it's towing ability.

Well when I do get to tow with it I will let you know and it will be an inparshal review. I tell it like it is. I know alot of guys that dont like the cummins cause it is not a race truck. I dont want a race truck I want a tow truck. dont care if it goes 0-60 in 4 sec. I want it to tow and tow easy with out breakdowns or issues. :thumbrt:

Dave, you should check with the Dodge dealer, there has been several computor reflashes since I purchased mine. One was a recall to prevent exaust issues, I think to prevent the cat from plugging. I have not noticed that any of them have changed the way it runs. I have my oil changes done by the dealer and they always check for the TSBs and take care of them without charge. They charge $80 for an oil change and use Rotella. Not a bad deal for me since I don't have to get rid of the used oil.

I drove past the dealer yesterday, they have a new blue and gold dually in the front row. I am trying to take alternative routes so I don't see it again. I haven't bought myself a Christmas present yet !!!!

My 2 cents - I wondered why the G56 manual wasn't available with the 4:10 rear - only 3:51 or 3:73 - mine has the 3:73 - the manual 6speed has a super low first gear and lower gearing throughout - I found out how much low end grunt this truck had the first time I had to start on a steep hill without rolling back (onto the ferry I had just come off - trailer just under 14K fully loaded...)

Speeking of low gears The new 6 speed auto They put a super low reverse gear in. I know i will like that backing into sites and up my driveway with the 40 footer.

I owned a 94, 96, 98 1/2, 2001, 2004 1/2 Dodge CDT had to buy about every two years do to tax reasons with my business.
86 Ford gasser broke down every 5,000 miles for some reason would always blow the computer

94 5 speed manuel stunk for towing since from 3 to 4 was like going up two gears. Had lots of problems with this truck since it was one of the first to hit Portland.
96 was an auto was a great truck but being a single cab no room for my son when he got older
98 1/2 was also a great truck and a auto but lost the tranny on a trip to a national TDR event and after the after market fix then loosing the brakes on the way home sold it
2001 was our show truck won many peoples choice awards at show n shine events with this truck. Was built so this one had all the aftermarket items in it the only problem it went through 7 lift pumps
2004 1/2 was another great truck only problem was broke down on the way to the Jackson rally do to a lift pump and was a manuel also. I really liked this truck but the seats killed our hips on long trips.

2008 Chevy was a great truck had no problems with it except my wife did not think it would stop the 2010 Cardinal since we have to travel over large passes here in the nw no matter which way we go. I did not want to get rid of this truck it was very comfortable and had plenty of power.

2011 Excellent for towing i dont race up hills either in fact i am pretty easy on my trucks having a problem with the low boost code but gm will have a fix in a week or so now. I am not a chevy man in fact like I tell everybody I always said i would never own a chevy or an apple computer. Well I now own both and probably the best two items i have bought to date, so never say never. Hope to have this truck for many years since I do not need them for a tax write off anymore and this is with out a doubt the best truck i have ever owned and I am not near as tired after a long trip.

They all are good and yes I like to have some fun on the site with it but they all have their good points and bad points.

I'm glad to hear that they have added a low reverse gear - the reverse gear on my truck is ridiculously tall - you have to feather the clutch to the point that you start to get a smell if you're trying to ease her back with the trailer on...
