EDGE Programmer
EDGE Programmer
I have a chance to buy an Edge Programmer/Chip from a friend that will fit my 2003 Chevy Duramax. Has anyone used one of these and what is your opinion of them. I have pulled thousands of miles without one and thought maybe it would help, with a low setting, to get more power and fuel mileage.
Any thoughts, advice, opinions, etc. would be appreciated.

Re: EDGE Programmer
I have not used one, but a friend (here it comes) has one, and he loves it . He used to like to "turn it up", till he got a ticket for SMOKING the tires on his truck, now he is a little more discreet.
He said he noticed a difference in the feel, and he had to keep his foot out, to relise a mileage difference. For what it's worth.
And with the age of your truck, you don't have Warrenty issues to worry about. Unless you have a Really Good Extended Factory warrenty.

I will say it again and keep saying it for every action there is a reaction. Been there a couple of times and now I am a member of kiss. I know there will be many that disagree with me but that's my .02 worth.

Re: EDGE Programmer
I have done it all, chips, exaust , intakes,. I never saw increased MPG. You will "feel" the power. But like Mike said the end results are expensive. The factory torque converters are not "overbuilt". More power equals more heat from everywhere. You will find the weak link and they all have one. I believe that almost all of them are safe if you do not haul anything with your truck, you may be OK if you only use it when not towing.

Re: EDGE Programmer
I used one in my 7.3 Ford. Worked well with that engine. My 6.0 is all stock with the exception of an aftermarket EGR cooler. 135000 miles, aprox half are heavy tow. I'll leave it that way...hope to get another 200,000 from it

Re: EDGE Programmer
I always crack up when I hear someone say, "I want more power AND better fuel economy." I think you only get one or the other. If it is working good and doing what you want....why mess with it!
