Bought a new 2011 Chev 3500 Duramax, 4x4, standard box, SRW

Post by mikenmarge »

Well, Marge and I dit it!!! :d We traded in our 06 350 Ford 6.0 and bought a 2011 Chevy Duramax. We have all of 150 miles on it and so far so good. We went with the SRW and standard box because some of the places I fish are a bit tight to get into. A dueully or long bed would be hard pressed to get in where I want to fish. Our first trip with the fifth wheel will be the Jackson Rally. It will be interesting how it pulls, etc. compared to the 6.0. Really looking forward to using the exhaust brake and see if it is as good as reported.

Basic description is 2011 Silverado 3500 SRW 4WD Crew LT, SRW, Summit White with Ebony Cloth Interior, Duramax 6.6L V8 Turbo Diesel, Allison 6-Speed Auto Trans, 18" Aluminum Wheels, 18" All-Season Tires, 11,500 GVW and bunch of other stuff. Now I have to figure out how to change our personal info, ie: delete the Ford and add the Chevy.

Loved my Duramax, many happy miles with it. Love those GM seats (I'll never hear the end of selling that truck from the DW). Enjoy! :bounce:

I WOULD say, "Neener, Neener, NEENER'', but that would NOT be nice and I like Sharon too much and give her rides any time we are around her........

Looks nice, I like the white. I am sure you will be impressed with the performance. The Chevy, Duramax-Allison combination is a proven pair. I still miss my Ford CC dually but I don't miss the 6.0.

John: Our 06 Ford was also a short wheel base 4x4. If I remember correctly Ford short bed is about three inches longer than the Chevy.

YEAH!!! I imagine we'll need to get some "break-in" time. I'm taking it on a fishing trip this weekend about 130 mi. each way. Then we leave Wed. for Carson City which will give it about 750 miles round trip. Not sure if we are taking Hwy 50 or going up through Jackson and over, but we won't be towing anything, so it should be a good trip for putting on a variety of driving.

By the way, I looked at the picture of your truck on the Name Area on your post. Does your truck have some fender flares to finish off the tire opening on the side bed? They make them after market and sort of give a nice finish to the edge of the fender around the tire. Here is one website that I found: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/supp ... lares6.asp They can be painted in any color. I'm going to ck with the dealer to see if they have them, but they don't show them on the Chevy site.

Also, I'll be having Linex installed. My friend in Oregon says that his friend who owns a GM dealership in Oregon has Linex sprayed in the fender wells, and even in between the outer and inner walls of the bed of all his trucks on the lot. Says it helps give it more strength so it's not so tinny and is good for cutting down on road noise. Have you or anyone else on the list heard of this before? I plan to talk to the Linex guy about it when I go see him this week. Mike
