I tow with a 2008 Silverado 2500 hd Duramax and several people have commented and I have noticed about the "excessive" fender clearance on the trucks, particularly the older models with 16 inch tires and wheels. i wonder why the designers didn't lower the fender wells a little? It's not quite so bad on the newer models that come standard with 18" or 20" wheels. I think they are beautiful trucks, but that to me is a design flaw. I also wish they had some two toned paint schemes available like Ford does. Maybe next year?

Those are stainless moldings also my truck came with the rear fender well inserts, was trying to see it in the pictures of yours but I dont think you have them.
I dont have a good pic of the fender well liner but you can see my rear fender well is black and you can see no metal. Plus in this pic you can see the trim i put on around the fender wells. Just put a new bow tie in the front grill since a large rock they call sand around here for the snow hit it dead on and put a large crack in it. Chevy likes their bow ties 67.00 and i put it in myself lol

edit I see you get the inserts for the rear wells with the ltz package

Hey Mike & Marge, congratulations on the new truck. It seems like there has been a lot of new trucks purchased in the last year or so.

inserts for the rear fender wells are not standard on LTZ unless you get the ez lift tailgate etc. pkg.

On our window sticker, it says "PCW" convenience package: includes Adjustable pedals, rear parking assist, Electric rear window defogger, remote vehicle starter system, universal home remote, My guess is that that have several different packages with different combinations. Mike went today to get some prices for the Linex and installing the hitch including new rails to fit the Chevy. He IS going to have Linex sprayed up in between the outer and inner walls of the bed. We are ordering the inserts for the wheel wells and the black piece that covers the top edge of the bed side rails. For now, we'll stick with the 36 gal. fuel tank. We are spoiled after having a 45 gallone tank for so long. He doesn't want one that fits inside the bed.

Now I really can't wait for the Jackson Rally to see both "Mike's" new Trucks. They both look "very" nice. :bounce:

Thursday we got the Linex sprayed in the bed. It turned out really nice. Yesterday we got the rubber rail covers on the top of the side walls of the bed and got the black inserts inside the front wheel wells. Also had everything scotch guarded. It's looking really nice. I will get the hitch put in when we return from Carson City since I won't be towing the trailer until after that.
