I got 12.7 pulling over the coast range this past weekend (hand figured) Most the time I average 11.6 towing and 17 in town not towing. The tank is going to be nice not having to stop everyday and never having to plan around a fuel stop anymore since i do not like pulling in for fuel with the trailer on.

Got my Titan tank installed yesterday. they told me to fill it in stages so I could check for leaks. With the price increases we've been having I put in $50 worth and got 13 gallons. At that rate it'll be over $200 to fill up! Oh Well, it's only money and the extra range will be great.

Leaks at the tank, or the connections? I sure didn't hear this advice from Transfer Flow when I got my aux tank.

Good news Chevy fans, I learned the other day that in 2011 all bed lenght GM 2500/3500 trucks have a 36 gal tank. NO MORE 26 gal short boxes!!!

Long time coming!!!

Now Ford, went from 29 gals to 26 gals in their short box! Maybe GM made them a deal on surplus tanks!!!!

Yep the short boxes use to have the 26 gallon tanks. Now that they are 36 gallon transfer flow does not have a replacement tank you have to get the bed tank.

Most likely it's the potential for leaks at the various connections the tech had to make when he installed the tank, the tank itself is one piece poly.
Jeff, I wish I had been able to get the deal like you got on your first fill up.

The extra capacity sure did make our trip a lot smoother this summer. We could drive all day and not have to be looking for fuel. However that almost got me in trouble the last day. I filled up before we left Pagossa Springs. Co and drove all day with several stops where the truck idled for some time, we stopped for the night and I didn't top off before we started for home. About 25 miles from home the low fuel light came on and I had to stop, put about 5 gallons in and came home. The next day I went and got a haircut and on the way home the low fuel alarm sounded again. I put over 48 gallons in when I filled up.

I sure enjoyed having the additional 50 gallons only had to stop and fill up twice on our way to Mt. Rushmore.

Having the ability to pick and choose where and when to fill is sooo nice! I got reminded of that last week on the way back from San Francisco. I ran the aux tank down so it can be moved to the new truck when it comes in, and had to fill the main tank in Wasco, CA at $4.59 a gallon. At home the price is $4.04.

OUCH!

Jeff, are you going to transfer the tank yourself?

Rob,

No, Transfer Flow has some installers in the area. I was at the Ford dealer yesterday and it looks like I should get the 2012 sometime late October, early November.

I've run aux tanks for years and now large capacity truck tanks, for those of you doing this one of the handiest web sites is http://www.dieselboss.com/fuel.htm on the right hand side is a fuel pump click on and it and it gives you price at all major truck stops. I use it for fuel planning regularly as the state taxes vary so greatly, you can save some big bucks by buying in the right states and areas of that state. Updated daily so no sticker shock at the pump. Quantity fuel buyers need to keep it bookmarked. :thumbrt:
