George, Congrats on your new truck. I know how you like to check things out and I was wondering if you had a chance to count the number of zerk fittings? There has been some discussion on dieselplace.com regarding this topic. Some say there are 11 fittings, same as on previous models, while some say there are only 9. I've only been able to find 9 on mine.

Where are the grease zerks? I didn't think there were any.

LOL, I didn't think new vehicles had grease fitting either. I'm going to ask when I take mine in for the LOF tomorrow.

The following are the ones I found and greased:
Upper and Lower Ball Joints (Driver's side & Passenger side) = 4
Outer Tie-rod end (Driver's side & Passenger side) =2
Pitman arm (at relay rod) Driver's side =1
Idler arm (at relay rod) Passenger side = 1
Upper end of idler arm mount, Passenger side +1
For a total of 9

Yep, the service manager said there are 2 or 3 grease fittings for my truck year.

Rob, If I were you I'd crawl under the truck and take a good look.
I had 11 zerks on my '02 and if there are 9 on the 2011 I'd be willing to put a lot of money (name your amount) that your service guy is wrong.
Take a good look in the areas I listed in my post above.

Hey Vince, according to the boys on the Super Duty forum there are only two and that's if you have four-wheel drive. They are located on the u-joints at the end of the front axles. I checked mine and that all I could find.

Rob, My apologies. One of these days I'll remember to look at signatures before I comment. I did not notice you have a ford. The info I provided only applies to GM trucks. Sorry :(
