My 5th gear sweet spot is 63 mph which is just fine with me, sometimes on the flats I will run it up to 67 and let it shift to 6th then back it down to 65 mpg while towing since that is plenty fast for me.

6.7 Fords have three ways to view MPG, overall per trip, then you can view instantaneous MPG on a vertical bar graph while looking at average MPG at various settings, mine is set to show a 30 minute average. On the trip meter A is per trip, B is per fill up.

Another nice touch is the Trailer Selected info, which is only active with the trailer electrical plug connected. It shows the total trailer miles. And the Tow Command brake system now has a setting for electric over hydraulic for disk brake trailer systems.

I do have to admit they do have some nice info available to view on the Fords. Im sure the rest will follow in the next model years which will be nice.

Yep, a "Glass Cockpit". The display has a large viewing angle, Terry can see it from the right side, even with the sun shining on it (and all the other gauges, too).
A far cry from the earliest digital displays, like the Vertical Display Indicator for the pilot in the Navy's A-6 Intruder which required a polarized filter to view the CRT display, or the old Sensor Station displays in the P-3C Orion.

When you get a chance Jeff take some different pics of the readouts it has if you don't mind.

I have some pictures saved on the smartphone I'll put up later.
Don't have one of the instantaneous MPG, you have to be moving for that of course. It is neat to see 30 MPG (highest it goes) on a downgrade during engine braking. :)

Here's one showing the bar graph that Jeff mentioned. As you can see it's set for 5 minutes where Jeff has his set for 30 minutes.

I also have 6th gear locked out to keep my RPMs a little higher.

LOL, that's nothing compared to our Ford Fusion Hybrid. Talk about your "glass cockpit":

And you can modify the display to show as much, or as little, as you want.

"People" is pretty generous. "Moron" is more appropriate. In the San Fran Bay Area the vehicle seen is usually a dark grey or black Lexus, BMW or Mercedes, average age of driver, early 30's, male or female driver, reading the Wall Street Journal, talking on a cell phone, shaving or putting on make up, all at the same time - in 70 mph bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway. X(

I live in the country now with NO COMMUTE! :d

Back on topic, after 1450 miles +/-, average MPG is 13.8. Best MPG 19.7 light, around 11MPG with the 'Bird, but I've only towed it 277 miles, including two trips over a mountain pass and stiff headwinds. I expect a trip to the SF Bay with the 'Bird would show around 12.5 MPG. The average MPG is the total since delivery, mostly driving on the local freeways at 75, (85+ keeping up with traffic chasing the steam locomotive B-) ), and a lead foot. I got the 19.7 MPG cruising at 68 in 6th gear. I've started using the Ford Diesel Fuel Supplement, PMA-22.

I'm glad it has cruise control, because when I was doing 85 it was so quiet and effortless, I didn't realise I was going that fast. :thumbrt:
