Jeff
I love to power stroke your chain get it (Power Stroke) as in Ford.
You will be very happy with your new truck and all we ask for is a trouble free rig and the best fuel milage we can get with these high diesel prices, if you notice Ford has the same rear end gears as the GM.
Hope every one knows its all in fun when we compare trucks, I think the tow ratings war from all of them will have to stop going up but not the power war.

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
George, it's always fun with the "Brand" wars, both my neighbors have trucks, a Dodge on one side, Chevy on the other, it's one of our favorite subjects on Friday's after work. I do get a kick out of the various magazine articles, because it is fun to see how they slant them. And we all know the new trucks are so even on towing capability and reliability now that it's a matter of preference.

What's interesting in these comparisons is I haven't seen wheelbase dimensions or the rest of the exterior / interior specs listed. The Ford is huge when compared to the GMC and Dodge. Anyone of them will get you up and down the passes. Its all in what you feel most comfortable in.

Chief, I sure hope Ford doesn't go on strike and delay delivery on your new tow animal.

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Hmm, specs are very similar between Ford and Chevy. Even the bed to ground height. I was wondering about that from reading posts by Chevy folks about concerns over trailer to top of bed clearance.

The GM side bed rail height from the cargo floor is about 2" higher than Ford F250-350-450
The F150 side bed rail height from the cargo floor is about the same as GM 2500, 3500.

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
I can't understand why GM trucks have such a tall side bed rail height on trucks they know would be pulling 5er's. It doesn't increase carrying capacity unless you're loading sawdust. With dirt, bricks, etc. you'll gross out the weight before you'd cube out.Olbird wrote:The GM side bed rail height from the cargo floor is about 2" higher than Ford F250-350-450

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Thanks Rob. I have a 3 ring binder full of specs of not found in sales brochures on both Ford and GMC. Not sure why the GMC is taller in the bed height. That was a concern for me.

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Still haven't gotten a build date for my 2012. It seems, according to financial news reports, that customer demand for new vehicles, including pickups, far exceeded what the Big 3 anticipated over the last couple of months. Not much you can do about that, just have to wait it out when you have a special order since the whole supply chain has to respond. So Bubba get's another 5K mile check before we leave for Salt Lake City this weekend. I was sure hoping to have the "Bubba II" on this trip, sigh. At least a strike doesn't look like it will delay things further, and the fuel prices are going down. I'm used to fuel prices heading for "the Moon" when we head out on a long trip!

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Stopped by the dealership today while running down parts for work. They received a shipment of 20 new trucks for the mine at Boron today (used to be US Borax), but my truck didn't make it with that shipment. It's sitting at the distributation yard in the LA area right now, so it's ALMOST HERE!
