Not the Way to Start Off with Ford

Post by rlhedlund »

FORD pretty sad when it comes to customer service. Truck still sitting in the shop waiting on Def pump. Can't pull one from another truck on the lot because the gaskets are not reuseable. New gaskets must be used when installed. No replacement vehicle, no consideration. Just a bunch of people working on the phone getting me back on the road as soon as possible. I told them last week I wanted my old truck back. They keep telling me it will be soon.

Latest is a "drop dead" date of October 10, per the zone manager. It has been in the shop since September 22. I'M NOT HAPPY! Ford lost a customer. I may be stuck driving this thing for the next few years, but I won't be bragging 'bout it.

I find it hard to believe that Ford can't send one from their line. They have to be making new trucks so they are sure to have pumps. The one thing I liked when my pump went was even though you have to buy the tank also since its all one unit its basically plug and play. Sorry to hear about your problems, I sure know how I would feel.

Supposedly, they got together yesterday and pushed it up the line. They are supposed to pull a pump from the assembly line and ship to the local dealer. I am still waiting for confirmation that it is shipping today.

I have tickets for the VA Tech-Miami football game. We are supposed to bring the Bird up there for the tailgating weekend. We'll see.

Va Tech actually lets you park on an old fairway or at the airport for $50 for the whole weekend. Very nice set up.

I hope things work out for you, and you can make the game, as you're certainly due. When you make it to the game could you post some pictures of the RV parking?

Don't think you are alone with new truck issues. Friends new 2011 GM 2500 was DOA in Myrtle Beach recently. Had to extend trip by a week due to parts availability
Ps our V10 has had zero issues in almost 3 years.

And you'll continue to have zero issues. :thumbrt: We traveled for 7 years up and down the mountain in the Northwest and had zero problems with our V10.

What is the name of the dealer so we don't go there...

Dealer in Tarboro, NC is Doug Henry Ford. Dealer here in Richmond is Colonial Ford.

I must say Doug Henry Ford drove up here to pick up my truck and they are bringing it back tomorrow. They appear to have found the original problem that Colonial Ford never found. They also found where Colonial Ford never installed an o-ring when they replaced the DEF pump.

Sounds like you've got the problem solved. Now go and enjoy that new truck. Everyone I've talked to says they are great.
