Dodge Bedrail Height

Post by mopar25 »

Can anyone give me the measurement of their 2007/2008 Dodge 2500 and/or 3500 (single wheel) from the top of their bed rail to the ground. Our 2000 Cardinal is approx. 62" from the ground to the bottom of the front overhand and I understand we should have 6-10" of open space between the truck bed and the bottom of the trailer. I really didn't want to go onto a car lot and start measuring as sales would be out there "selling" and I want to know what I should be looking at before I talk to anyone. thanks Presently we have 2001 Dodge Cummins 2wd short box with a rail height of approx. 52" so we have lots of room now and I didn't think of it being an issue until reading a lot about the higher bed rails on the newer trucks.

I can give you some 2001.5 4x4 Dodge measurements. Truck is 57 to top of back corner of the bed. Trailer is 62 setting in the front of the house level and unhooked. My 2500 pounds or so off pin weight puts the truck down around 2.5-3 inches, and I end up level with around 8 inches of clearance. My 2001.5 with camper option has both under and overload leafs.

You may not have an issue. The newer 2500's settle quite a bit with pin weight, as they have no overloads. Give it a try. Chris

Thanks Snoking -With yours still having about 8" clearance with a 57" box that gives me a good idea when I measure some newer Ram's. I measured a friends 2003 3500 dually 2wd and he is about 56-57" at the tailgate. Perhaps these Cardinals from 2000 to whenever have at least 62" of height and will be enough to have sufficient clearance with the bed rails.
