New Ford owners...
...did you know you can setup your truck to remember multiple trailers?
You can give your trailer a name and it will remember how many miles you've tow that trailer with your truck.
As an example I named my trailer Cardinal.
Of course you can setup an additional name for your boat trailer, car trailer, utility trailer etc.
It will keep track of the mileage you have pulled with the particular trailer.
As you can see I've pulled my Cardinal 1397.5 miles with this truck.
Pretty cool.
If I'm not mistaking it will also remember you're brake controller gain setting for each trailer.

Re: New Ford owners...
We have a 2010 Ford and I don't know if it has that feature or not. I know there are 2 mileage settings that can be separate, but don't know about a trailer setting. Have to check it out!!

Re: New Ford owners...
Rob..So just wondering....do you have to "Tell it" when you hook to , and unhook, or does it sense it somehow???? It would be really neat if it somehow used the resistance on a particular load....to know which trailer, and when it is used................do you know????
Re: New Ford owners...
To get to the screens shown above you need to select TRUCK APPS from the main menu which will take you to the OFF-ROAD screen. Press the > button and you'll be at the TRAILER screen. From there press the OK button to go to the OPTIONS screen. From there you just select the option you want.

Re: New Ford owners...
It's my understanding Mark that the truck senses the trailer brakes. Once you've select the trailer you're towing, if you have multiple trailers, the rest is automatic.bfast54 wrote:Rob..So just wondering....do you have to "Tell it" when you hook to , and unhook, or does it sense it somehow???? I believe that is what causes the DISCONNECT alarm in the truck when it no longer senses the brakes while traveling down the road.

Re: New Ford owners...
Perhaps it will sense that you have a trailer connected and then will bring the "select trailer" menu to the front so you can tell it which one. It looks as though if only one trailer it will automatically keep the mileage since it knows how many miles Rob has pulled before Rob knew he could keep track.Rob & Cathy wrote:It's my understanding Mark that the truck senses the trailer brakes. Re: New Ford owners...
That's an interesting question Earnie. I may just have to add a phony trailer to see what happens.EAW wrote:Perhaps it will sense that you have a trailer connected and then will bring the "select trailer" menu to the front so you can tell it which one.

Re: New Ford owners...
That's exactly right Earnie. Right out of the box there's a trailer called DEFAULT TRAILER and I simply changed the name to CARDINAL since the Cardinal is the only trailer I've towed with the new truck.EAW wrote:It looks as though if only one trailer it will automatically keep the mileage since it knows how many miles Rob has pulled before Rob knew he could keep track.

Re: New Ford owners...
Well it is pretty neat and I do like the readouts that Ford has but don't think i would buy a new truck to see how many miles I towed my trailer. I will be glad when the other two catch up with this type info on their readouts.
