Natural Gas Fuel

Post by Traveler II »

I was reading in a newsletter from my old company that at one location they have opened a new compressed natural gas fueling station to fuel the locations truck fleet. They are converting the diesel feet over at this location. It cost on average $11,000 per truck to convert to this alternative fuel and they estimate it will pay for itself in six months.

It will be interesting to see in the future how this will affect the type of fuel we will be using. It also said that a service station chain in our area Kwik Trip, has opened their first natural gas fueling station.

I can see it now, fill up the truck and by the way check the tanks in my RV.

I am assuming you see it in your area as well but a majority of the buses here in the Modesto area are running on Natural gas and seem to have good results!

I may be wrong, but I don't believe that you will get the same amount of awsome TORQUE from an engine running on Natural gas as opposed to a Diesel engine........ something (torque) which is very important when towing big heavy 5er's & Semi's.
