Sorry about your problem, I hope it is something simple and you don't have to go too deep to figure it out. Just brainstorming here, is the fan coming on, did you install a new waterpump during the rebuild? Keep us posted.

New;
Water pump
Radiator
Fan clutch
Thermostat
Oil cooler
1 new injector
ARP studs
Black onyex head gaskets
Valve gides
Seals
Glow plugs & harnesses
Resurface the heads .010 cut
All new gaskets & seals
I didn't spare anything on this job.
At this point it looks like an oil cooler failure. I will replace it. If it still has the same problem...I will buy an engine for it. I can buy a reman for about 4500 if I need to

That has to be discouraging, I have read alot about people having problems with the Black Onyx and Victor Reinz head gaskets. I hope that's not the case with yours.

Most of the information that I gathered was from the Powerstroke forum, if you do a search on the forum for Black onxy head gaskets you will get plenty of information from people that have had some bad experiences. I hope it's not that and I wish you good luck in getting her back on the road.

Rich, have you had a chance to diagnose what caused the failure?

Actually, I will have all the parts tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to take it apart this weekend. I assume the case split on a seam between the oil and coolant but, we'll find out.

That was a JOKE buddy, I knew you wouldnt remove the cab again just for that! WHat was your difference in oil to water temp? did you have cross contamination? What drives me nuts is when somebody takes a 200000 mile motor, does the egr cooler and not the oil cooler while in there or vise versa....basically when you are gona have to take everything apart to do it again anyway. I know thats not what you did, but it is what our latest truck had done to it, so now I get to re- remove all the parts that were just put back on 6 monts ago....

Thats a benefit of doing it urself Rich, you will know what you did and not skimp.

Have you considered using the bullit proof oil cooler conversion?

Keep us posted in what you find, im quite curious :thumbrt:
