id be very interested in the dyno charts, after the 400 hp upgrade for the firsst few and still being walked all over by GM. I realize it became standard but either their management of power to ground is inferior or they killed the curve for a higher peak number. Im all for FORD and factory equipment is great but if they are adding power to something that already cant handle it we are gonna be even more embarrased when the next rumble in the rockies shows us FORD guys with our tails between our legs as GM beats us with what they already have.

OK thats my pessimist rant

NOW!

Wooo hooo! 450hp from the factory, SWEET! Now I just have to get a new...er truck :thumbrt:

Who's embarassed? If you look at the independent dyno tests done on the Ford and GM trucks it showed that Ford was higher on torque but, the GM laid down more HP. One could conclude that GM may have been conservative on their HP rating. I have always believed that competition makes all of us winners, gotta love it!

I'm more interested if this flash would increase MPG or lower it at the level most of us use our trucks. With 3:73 gears I have plenty of torque available with the current settings and decent MPG. Dependable transportation with good MPG is my ideal. Can't retire and see America if the truck will be in the shop all the time sucking down money.

Guess I need to log on the board and check this out. Haven't done that in almost a year.

There is a long thread in the Tow Vehicle section on RV.net that more HP gets to the top of the mountain first. Chris

Transmission upgrades are required to support the extra hp and torque.

I would have to believe that the transmission is capable of handling this rumored increase.

Marginal at best.

Why do you think RAM is moving to the Aisin tranny in the spring. It is a commercial grade tranny that can play in the Big Three HP and torque game. Aisin and Allison may force Ford into a different tranny to play at the others level.

I wasn't aware that the Allison or the Aisin were considered to be stronger than the Torqshift, I don't think that the transmission will be the first limiting factor to future power increases for the 6.7.

I can not find where Ford or anyone else list the HP and Torque ratings for the six speed Torqshift transmission. Chris

Exactly, so why would anyone believe that it can't handle additional HP? I don't believe that any of the manufacturers advertise what the max ratings of their units are.

450 hp is a 12 1/2% increase. I doubt any manufacturer would produce a product greater than the original designs specs (400hp / 800 tq) and be cost efficient. Now designing the trans with room to increase power specs, again within a limit, maybe containable. This large increase will require changes.

Well I can tell you from experience over the years that the trannys are engineered pretty close to spec and not much wiggle room for increase. I proved that with one of my Dodges when all I did was put a set of stage one injectors in it which was a mild increase. Took out the tranny pretty quick.
