Losing coolant

Post by Mike Clay »

Since the Branson rally I have been losing engine coolant but could never find it. Have been running die in it since October and yesterday we finally found the leak. Its coming out of the weep hole in the water pump. So dealer has parts say will call you in the morning when its done. Yup got the call the next morning but instead of come get it I got we have had a problem with your truck.   The story goes the tech slipped off the wrench and put a hole through my radiator. new one has been ordered and will be in on Thursday. Told them I had a chip in my front window and throw a wrench through that also but he did not find that funny. :d

So they turned a minor problem into a major one, cool! I'll bet that second leak was easier to find.

Sorry Don, It is my sense of humor. After 32 years of fixing helicopters I've learned that when something goes wrong it is always when you need it the least or with your best customer waiting.

Good thing it is still under warranty. I understand that diesel water pumps are expensive. When you get it back it will be newer that when you took it in :thumbrt:

Hey Mike keep that bad mojo 8-X on your side of the continent until it goes away!!

I agree with what Mark says, "it'll be better than new" when you do get it back.

My main worry it the boost tube from the intercooler they had to take off. The new design has a quick connect on that end of the tube but if not put on and checked even if you hear the click it will blow off. After all that happened they wanted to keep the truck for one more day to do pressure checks and boost checks which is fine with me.
