Today we were headed towards Paso Robles, CA. We made it over the mountains by Bakersfield, thank goodness than the brake controller went out on our pick-up. We were able to get into a campground and found a GMC dealer. They will check it out tomorrow and hopefully will get it fixed. It’s a bit of a surprise to push on the brakes and find that the trailers brakes aren’t working.

Mike, are you using the Chevy brake controller or did you add one?

I use the Chevy one but hardly ever use it except backing up to take the strain off the Reese hitch so I can unlock it.

Sorry Mike, I was interested in knowing which brake controller you are using in your truck to connect to your trailer. When we ordered our Chevy we got the trailer package with the GM Brake Controller. It’s been working fine until today. We have Kodiak Disk brakes on the trailer and it was working with this combination

Well the Chevy dealer just called and our truck is fixed. Didn’t know this, under the passage seat is a wiring harness and the part that controls the trailer brakes was pulled out, lights worked but not the brakes.

If it happens again, I know where to look.
