I have a two fold problem when hitching and un-hitching.
1. The big hips of the truck make me too short.
2. The belly keeps me even farther away!

Then we put the trailer away came home 32 miles and decided to go to Hoppy Brewery my favorite watering hole. Each had a glass of beer and started talking how much we hate being home so got on the phone and made reservations for Mt Hood RV resort for 3 nights starting tomorrow then we come home for two days before we take off for 6 more nights. Had to come home long enough to get the mud flaps and stainless put on the truck. :d
Sounds like you are getting closer to being a fulltimer :thumbrt:

Boy I am here to tell you these new trailers are heavy. Weighed with some water plus loaded for travel. 15,400lbs  While towing to the campground yesterday I was noticing a pickup coming up next to me then dropping back. Finally he came by me and honked, I thought oh great now what did I break. I looked over at him and he gave me a thumbs up. #:-s Then he dropped back and came back up at a red light and had me roll down my window. How long is that thing? I told him then he said. Well shi+ it takes up 2 counties. =)) :((

I am glad and never thought I would say this that I got a dually. Really can feel the weight towing up to Mt Hood. Not to mention the fuel mileage pulling up here. :ymsick: Watch your truck weights with these new trailers the pin weights are ridiculous.

What gearing do you have compared to your previous truck?

But Mike, if you are going to live in Alice, then having a large Alice is important. Truck will get broke in and pull better and mileage will go up. Or you should have gotten one of those RED swedish things!!!! What is your combined weight? Chris

Love your new truck. I have the same problem with mine that Don has. The big hips and my big belly and me being short makes for a little trouble hitching and unhitching. I borrowed one of Cherryl's kitchen stools to help me reach over and release the hitch. It folds up and lays flat when not being used.

The little stool I use is plastic and it is only one step. I place it directly beside the tire and step from it up on the tire itself and then I am finally able to reach the release handle. My Dodge sits high. When the tailgate is down, I can hardly climb in it. Not bad when it is up because the rear hitch becomes my step, but of course that won't work when hooking up.

The height of the truck came in real handy this past weekend. The wind got up fairly quickly and the awning was out. I was not sure how much wind it could take but decided not to take any chances. When I went to put the awning in, I could not get it to secure at the top and of course I do not have my ladder there yet, so I backed the truck up beside it and stood on the bed rails. It started raining and I was having a difficult time but thanks to the Line X the rails were not slippery. It seems that the awning arms are sprung and do not line up properly.

That is just the awning matteral shifted in the track. Pull it back out and slide it in the roller a bit or the trailer track. When you get it right the arms will fit together correctly. And check on getting a awning lock.

Mike Den says we weigh a bit over 22,000.... (a ''few'' rocks maybe??? WAIT! that was before we started this trip and HAD no rocks in it... maybe it was all the canned goods and 18 gallons of water that I carry in Jugs...)

BTW: Alice and the White Rabbit are BEAUTIFUL together! LOVE the 'stripes' Chris painted on, too!!!!!!!
