Timbren/Torklift Kits

Post by Traveler II »

Are any of you using Timbren or Torklift suspension kits? When you’re not pulling do they change the ride in the truck? I’ve had air bags in the past and I like that I can change the height but I understand that they take away from the trucks sway control where the Timbren or Torklift systems do not.

Thanks and Happy New Year.

I used Timbrens on a 2004 Dodge and they were great when towing. I always felt that they made for a hard ride on bumpy roads when the axle came up and and contacted the Timbrens. When not loaded the aren't very forgiving.

Just my humble opinion.

I am also considering Timbrens because a lot of the cement portions of the highways in my home area must have been installed by Washboard Construction Company and I get porpoising unless I drive about 45 mph and that is not good on 4 lane highways.

I've also been looking at the Torklift suspension kits, it works like the Timbren but when your not using it you can move it out of the suspension so it doesn't make contact.

I have used Timbrens for quite along time with two RVs. I agree with Bill about the Timbrens giving a harder ride when not towing on my truck as I can feel them when going over bumps. I can't say if they reduced the porpoising on highways. The only thing that has helped that for me using an air pinbox or air hitch which is what I have. I have Bilstein shocks that stiffened the ride further as the factory shocks were softer and the truck "bounced" more when going over bumps. Keep in mind that the Timbrens are really designed to reduce rear sagging and level your truck more while under a load. Hope this helps.

Never had Timberens. I had AirLift bags with the on board compressor that I could control while going down the road. I could usually get a better ride by changing the pressure with different road conditions. then let the pressure down to 5lbs when empty and have the factory ride. I mounted the gauge and control where it was easy to operate.
