Allison shop tells me the 1000 Allison is stronger then what the engines on the market today can produce.
I believe one of the reason GM has quit the HP race is the tranny is maxed currently. Chris

Well I will say just one thing and get out of the discussion, I don't think GM needs more HP to stay in the tow ratings game because I have not seen any of the other brands pass me up on the long hard pulls with a trailer my size or smaller.

I can tell you it is not all about tow ratings, my Topkick was rated to tow 32,000 lbs with the 3000 Alison, it may could have pulled 32,000 but at what speed is the question.
Mike needed to wait for me on the other side of the hill for five minutes, I was max out at 35 mph with a combined weight of 28,500, so would it be 25 mph at 32,000 ?
My new truck will pull up the same hill at the max speed limit with more to spare so I would be happy to say GM is still in the race Chris. :thumbrt: :thumbrt:

Haha well the Aisin has it's share of problems but so do the others. But this is how truck wars start Chris! Making an off the wall comment like that. Again I owned 5 dodges and liked them all. Prefer the Chevy but that's just me. All that matters is you can get from point A to point B safely and without problems. Not going to go there and it's nice to see dodge making a great come back.

LOL, you're right Bill, that's why it takes me a week or more to get anywhere. :thumbrt:

But you know how some are when it comes to climbing hills.

This is my new truck.

On the way back from Mission TX I ran it up to 80 mph for a few min. just to see how it handled. It felt just as smooth as 60 mph. In fact it was an accident really...I didn't look at the speedometer when I set the cruise and thought I was at 70-75...oops.

Indeed, very nice Gary! :thumbrt:

I know what you mean about the speed. If I don't use my cruise control the speed will keep creeping up if I'm not paying attention especially on long lonely roads.

Thanks! I thought if we are going to be spending that much time in it I was going to get one loaded out. That Cummins will outlast me!

Own a 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins HO 6spd. We were going up Santiam Pass with our 5er one time and I told the wife this thing could use more power. Looked down at the speedo and was doing 45mph. Passed a speed limit sign and it said 45mph. Didn't say anything more about power after that. :))

Mike and I had the same trucks back in 01 and one weekend I put in stage 3 injectors and did not tell him. We were going over the Blue Mountains heading out for one of our vacations since the 4 of us use to travel together all the time. I will never forget the look on his face when I passed him nor will I forget the bruise on my arm after his wife punched me.
