Skype

Post by EAW »

Does anyone use Skype http://www.skype.com/welcomeback/ for talking or video? I am working towards getting it set up so DW can talk to her DD without killing our cell phone bill.

It looks like this could also be a free way to have virtual rallies among Cardinal RV Club members. Just a thought

We use it for voice sometimes and it works well as long as you have a decent wi-fi connection. Find it handy in areas without cell phone coverage in campgrounds with wi-fi.

It works great. Skype is what we used to talk to my niece the whole year she was in Ireland.

I have been using Skype for a few days and I love it. My daughter lives in Charleston and we are in California. I got the webcame Logitech pro 9000 for $72.00 on Amazon. You will like it.

We use Skype and I-Chat with our Mac. I-Chat works better, but I find on the road both are hard to use, you really need a good connection. We're in Yuma, AZ right now and are unable to use either one. I'm looking at hooking up to a DSL line, the wi-fi in the park we are in is poor.

Skype is real-time conversation. You use a headset, or speakers, and a microphone.

I got to talk to a family member today on Skype and it worked pretty good. My wi-fi connection seems a little slow but I had good audio and grainy video with the full screen mode. I bought some Skype credits and had great quality when calling home to check for phone messages.

Give me a call when you see me on line. Skype user name is eaward49. I'm not sure but we may have to exchange contacts first.

We tried it last night...I don't have a mic yet but it worked great from his end. We tried to yahoo also...it was actually very choppy and sluggish. For those of you who have skype....how do you enlarge the text for when you are typing???

Great to see folks while talking to them. Mike thanks for the video call! Turns out my Macbook has all the equipment built in so no need for headset or webcam. We need to get more members doing this, it's a great way to stay in touch. Maybe ya'll can guess what my skype name is? Pretty easy to figure out.

I just installed the Mac version, and set it up. Hope to try it out soon, at a better hour...
I'm on my work week, so it may be a day or 2. I don't have a good Wi-Fi, so this may be a good test to see how it will work when on the road and not always with the best connection.
