Single men camping

My wife and I had planned to do some serious camping/traveling in a fifth wheel, but she passed away about six years ago. I shelved all plans, but recently my son told me to buy a trailer and hit the road and have some fun since life is to short. My question is, " Are single men seen as a potential problem at camp grounds ?" I'm 64 and would like to see the places that you read about in the magazines: Pikes Peak; Grand Canyon; the mountains; the desert; and other interesting places in the US. Your view points and experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

Not that I have ever heard of. I've seen both single men and single women in my travels at campgrounds all around the country. We have another member (critterenter) who travels as a single and we have traveled with him several times without any issues. Get out there and enjoy it!

Joe,

You need to go for it! Your son is right "Life is way too short to worry about things like that". There are lots of single people out there Rving and you should enjoy as much of this country as you can.

There is a Rally in Goshen Indiana on May 14,15,16, 2010 and even though you don't own a Cardinal yet you could possibly drive down an meet some of those folks and talk to them about their trailers.

DITTO what everyone else said!! We've met some really nice "single" out there enjoying the rv lifestyle!! We met one lady that camped with her husband in a motorhome....when he passed away she traded it in for a class c that she was sure she could handle...that way she was able to continue with what they had loved doing.

There's also a rv club for singles...can't remember the name of it but you could probably google it.

Don had a good idea....if you can go to the Indiana rally, then by all means go for it, ck it out for yourself!! I can pretty much promise you, you wont be treated any different than anyone else....wellllll...maybe if ya spike your hair...ummmm nahhh I spike mine and no one cares =))

GET OUT THERE AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!

Go for it!!!! I worked in a campground last summer and we had many single men camping and many single women. Who cares!? I can't see where that creates any problems...you might get invited to a lot of dinners...Just get out there and have some fun...there is so much to see and many friends to make and share experiences with.

And, I am very sorry for your loss.

By all means get out there and enjoy yourself.
We bought our Card at General Trailer right there in Mt. Clemens.
I have been thinking about going to the Camper show in Novi next week, probably on Fri. My wife has to work that day so I'll be going it alone. If you decide to go let me know and I'll buy you cup of coffee.
Also by all means try to make it to the Ralley in May. Even if it's only for a day, come on down!!
Bill

You sound like a possible candidate for a "workamper". http://www.workamper.com
or check state/federal parks you would like to visit. Many have programs where you work part time and you can get some/all of your site fees free. One of the ones in Fla. has a deal where you agree to work 3 10 hour days, usually driving a shuttle or something, and you get 6 nights stay for free or something like that.
