Sierra 2500HD and 31-2BH Cardinal and 1700Lund boat

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Sierra 2500HD and 31-2BH Cardinal and 1700Lund boat

Post by mschulte »

Used to pull a 26.5 Jayco Qwest and my boat with a 1500 Sierra with airbags. Traded for a 2007 Cardinal 31-2BH  and still have the Lund boat. Is this too much for my new 2500HD Crew Cab Sierra to pull. Mostly local prairie driving?? Any long distance driving and we'll drop the boat.

I was doing a little more research and have found that we should be just fine. The duramax allison 6 speed should be sufficient. Would appreciate anyone's personal experiences though. Thanks again. We go out this long weekend for our maiden voyage. I'll post an update for any who might be interested.

Thanks

Towing Boat and Cardinal

Post by Don Wilson »

Hi mschulte,

The board has been quite lately! I did a search on towing a boat and the Cardinal at the same time and did not find any previous postings.

I have seen a few people pulling both a fiver and boat but never really noticed the size of the tow vehicle. I know in California the overall length of the two cannot exceed 53 feet from kingpin to rear of boat. I am not sure whether it requires a commerical license?

If I remember right, maximum length for Florida is 60'. No CDL required. Weight wise you should be ok for the short run (based on your figures).
