How Many Miles are ya'll logging on?

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

How Many Miles are ya'll logging on?

Post by campswithcritters »

I was just sitting around today and got bored enough to tally the miles we've traveled since last April when we changed out our axles. 8800 miles so far on the trailer while the truck gained 11000 in the same time period.

I've put about 7600 on the trailer and 18000 on the TV since last January. Am itching to hit the road again, but looks like it will be a few more weeks before we can. DW says we (I think she means me) need to finish painting the house inside and out so we can get it on the market this spring. Have been working on it for several days now and it sure seems like it's going slow. My sister suggested that perhaps I'm not quite as young as I once was. She sure is getting sassy in her old age. If any of you out there want to visit California in the next few weeks, I'm sure I can find some extra paint rollers.

Wayne about 363 out of the last 365 for us, I guess you still call it camping when you live in it. Missed 2 days as I was in no condition to drive us home a couple times while visiting our friends house!

Our camper itself is at 36K total since new in Aug 05, Truck total 17K since new in Dec 06.

Sounds like you will have a chance to break it in this year with plenty of rallies all over.

I knew you would break the bank with miles , and with Sharon living in it .You only get 1/2 time
Hey hate to ask but when do you leave again ( couple days ) Where are you setting up shop ?? some where warm I supose , as we are forecast with 8 to 12 inches of more white stuff .
I looked at a Chevy 4500 an 05 with 15,000 miles. They want $ 50k but it's sitting in a dealer for three months . Really a clean truck and loaded too . I'm just too Cheap

Going out to work again Sunday. We are in our winter hiding spot New Caney TX just NE of Houston, and I go off to Nigeria still where it is extremely hot this time of year with plenty sand blowing down from the Sahara.
The Chev 4500 is an interesting truck, same eng/trans combo as mine but they actually turn down the power (less torque and less HP but up the rear ratio). My guess is to make it last longer. Personally if/when I go MDT it will likely be a freightliner or an International with CAT or Cummins powerplant and an allison tranny.

Ya I looked at the 4500 but I checked out the power and what everyone on Escapees Mtd and Htd talked about . Really like those cornbinders that 2L builds got to be nicest Truck out there . But $ 110,000 plus if we fulltiming and sold off here Maybe ,but I'm too cheap .
Got 12 inches of white stuff with blowing this morning sounds like a day off . Come on up we'll make a snow man . Ya Right

Wayne, Check my signature, it says 2WD on the truck. There is a reason for that, I don't do snow anymore! So don't look for me in your neighborhood till after the spring thaw.

We were only out for 24 days last year but put 4,500 miles on the trailer but have put 10,000 miles on the Dodge since buying it in May 07. We purchased the Cardinal in Jan 05 and put 5,000 miles on it that year and 4,000 miles in 06. Hopefully we will be out more in the coming year!!
