Misinformed?

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Misinformed?

Post by ski boy »

A gentleman entered our RV park today with an interesting rig: he's pulling a 36ft Cardinal with a trailer attached. The trailer has a pair of Honda Gold Wings on board. He and his wife and two dogs are full-timing. He's towing this "train" with a 2004 GMC 3/4 ton truck with a gas engine. All of his storage compartments appear to be jammed with stuff...During a friendly chat with him, he assured me that his "airbags" give him ample towing capacity for all his stuff. I mentioned to him, politely, that airbags do not increase the towing ability of a vehicle. (He's also got a generator, truck bed toolbox and two full ten gallon gas containers on board.) I sure hope that he doesn't come to grief on the road somewhere...

If that guy ever got near the www.rv.net, the weight police would slice and dice him to pieces! We had a guy at our park last winter with a flatbed trailer for his HD motorcycle. Said he had towed it behind his 5th wheel all over the US and never had an issue with LEO. Chris
