My new 2011 Silverado 3500

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Susanna and I went for a drive last night and the truck went into regen at 420 miles? Then I noticed my soot mass was going up fast and the exhaust gas temps were over 1,300 degrees where my last truck was 1,200 so of coarse im thinking great I bought a lemon. This all happened while i was going by my dealership of coarse there is my old truck is sitting up on the ramp looking really nice and rubbing it in. Then to add insult to injury i am looking at my radio antenna and all of a sudden its gone =)) Some mook forgot to screw it on tight so pulled into the middle of the hwy a block from my last truck still sitting there laughing at me and picked it up.

So went into the dealership this morning not in a real good mood and told them I want them to scan it then call GM'S TAC center. What I learned was not to look at the regen cycles right now nor the soot mass because they have programing built into the computer on the truck that has it in a break in cycle. The GM tech at TAC said dont compare it to my 08 that these new engines are monsters and they run a lot warmer during regen and there are several factors that will make it regen right now. He said to start looking at the averages going up but I wont see the 700 mile regens until several thousand miles after the computer drops out of the break in cycle. So after hearing this right from GM plus the prozack the dealer game me =)) all is well again.

I cant wait to tow with this truck we took it down a long 8% grade last night in tow mode with the turbo brake on and every time you touch the brake it drops one more gear where my 08 would only do it sometimes plus the turbo brake will set you forward into the seat belts, it brought us from 55 mph to 25 mph in the middle of the hill without touching the brakes. I can watch my boost build as it applies the reverse horsepower plus this truck right now on the same routes i had my 08 on is getting 2 mpg better I am seeing 16.8 mpg on some city and country roads. All and all at this time I am a very happy camper and cant wait for this weekend to get the hitch on with custom mounts by Olbird :thumbrt:

Indeed, Mike's a one man stimulus plan. At every national rally he's had either a new truck or trailer. If the rest of us did half of that there would be some serious spending going on which is exactly what the country needs. :ymapplause:

I can't even imagine what he'll have at the national rally after Yellowstone. =))
