My new 2011 Silverado 3500

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Training Wheels, he's going to be throwing pieces of street now in my face with all that extra horse power.
If he had two more tires I would need a shield when traveling with him.

George, I am surprised that you did not talk him into the training wheels. You should have let him test tow with "Casper"!! I think that is what you call your machine!!! :-B Chris

Now Chris why would i want or need training wheels?? My pin weight is way under the gross for the truck and the combined is way under. There was an article in Car and Driver that the new SRW pickups are able to haul more weight then a dually could three years ago.

Don guess I have not come up with a name for this one yet. My daughter bought me frames with "The Mule" on it which was one of my Dodge trucks names, might put them back on if I can find them lol.

How about "Mad Hatter"? Regarding the training wheels, I would not want them either.

you still only have one tire per side and a flat will be a sure stopper, plus If you have 2 E rated tires on the rear rated at 3415# thats a total of 6830# but if you have 4 that is a total of atleast 10k even with the downgraded ratings for dual applications. So unless you put some Semi style huge rating tires on a single wheel, how can it hold more than a dually? My 99 dually has an almost 6k payload and a new single has 4k and change, I would be interested in reading the article if you can link to it Mike. Not trying to argue just interesting to me.

I think you should let Susanna name it since it was her idea.

I'll bet Olbird (George) can't wait to drill holes in it and watch you squirm. =))

Mike, how many lbs are these new 18" tires rated at? Did they increase the brake size again that pushed them to 18" wheels or are these an optional large wheel/tire? If they increase the brake size again then that (insert name) should stop on a dime and give you 10 cents in change!!!!! Color me green! Not sure if I still can get the GM discount after EDS was sold to HP, but when I retired from BofA/EDS in 2006 I had it.

Sure would like a nice new Dodge or Chevy. Will have to sneak into town and drive them when DW is not looking. My 2001.5 Dodge/Cummins is just getting broken in at 85K, however it is a crude machine compared to the new ones. Now DW wants to go to the East Coast in 2011 with a group of friends, so maybe she will want a nice nice quiet truck for that trip!!!!

Chris they are 14" brakes now I will have to go out and look at the tires mine are 18" but you can get 20" not to thrilled about the tires they put on here Goodyear Wranglers but I will deal with that down the road. The 17" wheels they put on the LT package are 17" Michelins
