My new 2011 Silverado 3500

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Not a lot of info on the web yet on the 2011, but I did find that you are rated to a 5th wheel trailer up to 16,800 with the SRW and 21,100 with DRW and 4x4. 397HP and 765ft lbs - Watch out Ford!!!!!

Doing a little math!!

11000 GVWR minus 8,000 = 3000 for pin weight, hitch weight and other stuff in the truck! Not that GVWR is an all binding number! So, what is the Rear Axle rating. My shade of green is getting brighter and brighter!

Great, that means you should have over 3000 left for pin weight or a 5th wheel up to around 15K GVWR'd after the hitch and other things are added to the truck. Good numbers! Tires must be 3525 each, with the 7050 RAWR.

Now for more mileage reports! You are authorized to go camping or run up here and visit. What is your trailer overall lenght? We can handle up to around 35 foot. http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/res6pseo/id16.html We have sewer dump and 30amp RV power.

I too would trust George's knowledge on the subject.

My only concern would be if something were to happen, and the installation of the hitch was questioned, the manufacture could come back and say it wasn't installed per their instructions. Just a thought.
