Chevy Integrated Brake Control

Post by Traveler II »

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering where Chevy owners have their brake controller set at? I have a 2008 2500 and I have the controller set to 4.5 :?:

John, I have mine set at 7.0 and I know I have my break drums set loose after repacking wheel bearings last year.

It's in the shop now for a list of things. Might as well have them check the brakes.

I have mine set wide open at 10 and I still don't get as much as I would like. The brakes are as tight as I can get them. Maybe I'm expecting more trailer braking than I should. They won't lock up if I use the manucal control. Should they? Also, if I hit some bumps while breaking hard it jerk the truck up and down to the point I feel that I need to back off the brakes a bit to stop it from jerking. My 2003 GMC 2500 did not do this with my add-on Prodigy.

Thanks for any advice.

I have had three trucks connected to my old 5th wheel and never could get the trailer wheels to lock up at a 10-15 mph roll.
The old trailer break control setting was about 6 and would stop the truck at a very slow slow roll while check breaking, the new trailer requires me to set the break control at the max setting of 10.
Even at max setting of ten I very little breaking power from the trailer, as mike said I am hoping it gets better during shoe
break-in, if not I will need to adjust them a little.
