Traveling in Pennsylvania

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

The story about the Bronco reminds me of one reason why I carry a Fire Extinguisher. One Fall day in Maine, with the leaves falling, I was driving down the road in my Bronco with the defrost selected when thick grey smoke started coming out the vents. The leaves had packed up in the blower and caught fire. Grabbed the extinguisher and ended the problem. The first reason is I also went thru the transmission overflow fire with a friend and his new Chev 4X4 pickup when we got stuck in deep snow and overheated the tranny rocking back and forth getting unstuck. NO Fire Extinguisher then, so we ended up packing the area with snow. That was Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon both of us had extinguishers mounted in our vehicles. That was in the early '70's, I've had one in all my vehicles since.

Thank you for the info, we live in PA and didn't know that this is a law. Boy oh boy ignorance of the law is no excuse, what a fine that could be. We have to have a State inspection done on the Bird and truck every year, you would think some where down the line we would have learned about this. I know what Bud is getting for Christmas now. Thanks again.

Illona, be sure to go to a reputable fire extinguisher service company and get one intended for a vehicle, avoid those home center specials.
