2014 Dodge hitch ready?

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

2014 Dodge hitch ready?

Post by pattyrn5 »

WE just bought a new Dodge short bed and have now found out that the bed was somewhat ready for a hitch that Dodge was planning to make but didn't!
I am probably simplifying what I have been told by several hitch people. But we are now waiting for Drawtite to make a part so we can get a hitch installed. Anybody else run into this?

First of all congrats on the purchase of your new Dodge truck.

Is your Drawtite hitch from the previous truck? There seems to be plenty of hitches available for the new Dodge trucks.

We have to get a new sliding hitch because we had a long bed before now we have a short bed so we need a sliding hitch. We really like the truck.

I have heard the Reese has a new hitch that goes straight into the bed pockets without the extra picture frame. Might have to call them. Chris

Steve says we don't have the bed pockets in our model. We didn't get the really fancy one. But we do have some prep in the bed that needs a part to make the 5th wheel hitch work.

The under bed part can be ordered and installed. May have to raise bed to install. Bolts to brackets on the frame. Dealers seem slow on getting on board with this hitch setup. Once that is installed the Reese is suppose to now have a hitch that goes directly into that without the picture frame. Chris
