Truxedo Lo Pro QT

Discuss with others about towing. What is the best tow vehicle, hitches, brake controllers, etc, keeping in mind that everybody has his/her favorite.

Truxedo Lo Pro QT

Post by Mike Clay »

Well after having the Truxedo many years ago (Susanna surprised me with one at a diesel thunder event and had it installed :x ) then the jack rabbit then the backflip. Had nothing but problems with the jack rabbit, liked the backflip with the exception on a long box it was very hard to flip up the last section when fueling my extra tank. The other problem is the stack when towing with the new trailers does not work well since the cap now hangs over the pin and there is not much clearance even on slight turns. Went out to the trailer yesterday hooked it up and pulled it out in the storage lot at a 90 degree turn to make sure the back of pin box will not hit.

Sooooo back to Truxedo i go. Just ordered the Lo Pro QT and should have it next week. Need something to cover the fuel tank and to haul easy to fly out items when not towing. I know the Truxedo's are not water proof but on my 2004 Dodge is was as close as it gets. Not to mention they have a hassle free life time warranty on every piece of the tonneau cover.

I bought the BakFlip shortly after buying the truck. It lasted a little over two years then I notice two broken frames.

Called BakFlip and of course their response was "sorry out of warranty".

Had the P.E. Jack Rabbit on my previous truck for 6 years with no problems. Left it on the truck when I traded in.

I installed the Truxedo Lo Pro QT last week and seems to be working well. But it's only been a couple weeks. I too like their warranty but of course it has yet to be tested.

I had a problem with my last Truxedo after 4 years with the velcro. No questions asked sent me two new rails at no charge to me. This company seems to be a lot like fantastic fan. "No problem we will send you a new part or complete unit if needed." Would have bought it while in Texas but was not sure if my pin would clear plus did not want to pay tax. Plus I would have had to buy the Access tonneau cover but did not how the rails set and could have had a problem. Out of all my tonneau covers I did like my older style Truxedo the best.

I think this is a pic of the Access TC rail. Not sure people had both there and all where happy with them.

When I looked at covers a few years ago the saleswoman that I talked to about the jackrabbit told me that she could not recommend it to me because I live on a dirt road. She said the dirt would constantly get into the rails and be a problem. I had to give her and A+ for honesty. I still haven't found anything that I really like.

Well the big brown truck should show up with the tonneau cover today so we shall see how it goes. I will be nice to have a tonneau cover again.

Installation couldn't be easier. Clamp the rails on then attach the cover and adjust the tension. :thumbrt:

You can do it yourself but it easier with two people.

Ya not worried about installing it just hope I measured everything right on my pin box. Guess I will find out really quick when I pull my trailer out of the storage area.

Worried about the pin-box hitting the rails during a sharp turn?

Yes the newer pin box on this trailer seems to be a slight bit longer but I should have about 1 inch left on a very sharp turn. Over the top I have lots of room, its the rail from the tonneau cover that hangs inside the bed thats my concern. My backflip cleared on the last truck with this trailer but these rails are a little bit wider I think. I thought I took a pic of a truxedo rail while in Texas but I guess I only got the Access one.

I am also surprised how your backflip fell apart after such a short period of time. Mine still looked like new with the exception of the hail damage.

This is a pic of my old backflip, also I think the backflip rails sat a little lower which gave me more clearance.

I just went out to the truck and did some measuring. The Truxedo rail extends into the truck an inch further than the Bakflip.

I wish I could find something that would let me cover Debbie's scooter and secure the bed, I like the idea of what I have in the bed being hidden from prying eyes and sticky fingers.
