We just got a letter yesterday 1/24/2015 from Forest River, INC. Regarding a safety recall notice about a recent problem with the frigidaire microwave and convection oven. They can tyrn on by themselves and start a fire. So today we checked it. Opened it up to see soot. And melted glass. It was arcing from the back side wall to the bottom and a big hole right through the glass. We have no idea how long it has been like this. Holy Moses! It could have been much worse and burnt the 5er up and our barn!!! It is very recent, as it was not like thus a couple of weeks ago. Ron pulled the fuse and now we will have to take it in our dealership and have it repaired or replaced, whatever they deem needs doing to correct. Pretty scarey! :((

Ron I posted that on the site Sept 15, 2013. I seen it on the Forest River site. It is titled Recall on my post.
Mike.

If you do a little research on the frigidaire microwave and convection oven recall information you will find it is a recall that effects every RV maker in the market.
They also list the numbers effected in the recall.
Frigidaire states they are not replacing the units in full, they are changing out the defective boards, most of the Cardinal units built in 2014 use Whirlpool.

Ron are saying your unit came on and it started heating up what was stored in your unit causing the melting problem, I guess it is safe to say we should never store items in the microwave.

Yes, our notice was clear just as you stated. It is a good idea not to store things inside the microwave. Lesson learned the hard way. B-) The convection shelf was inside. It had metal on it and started arcing when it turned itself on.

Glad it wasn't any worse than it was and your trailer and barn didn't catch on fire. I would have thought that Forest River or Frigidare could have got that notice to you in less than four months. Forest River was supposed to start sending notices out in September.
