Purchased a new Ram

Post by mbrolin »

We finally decided it was time to take the plunge on a new tow rig. We will be going down Thursday to sign the papers on a new Ram 3500. :d It was a tough decision on whether or not to spend the money but we felt that our 01 Dodge had served us well after 14 years and over 100k miles. I made the decision to go all out with the accessories. Its a Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab long box SRW which includes about every option you could think of. The main option is the Aisin 6spd auto with the 850 torque Cummins. It has a GVW rating of 12,300 lbs, a GCVW of 25,000 lbs and a Tow rating for 16,880 lbs. We are taking a trip with the 5er this weekend but unfortunately it will be with my old Dodge. :ymsigh: Ram recommends having 500 miles on the truck before towing anything and then putting another 500 miles towing but staying below 50mph. Will be posting pics soon. :bounce:

Don, you are right. I couldnt believe the sound difference on the test drive. Told Sandy that it was quieter than her car. Hey Duane I see from your sig that you are in Wisconsin. I was born in Beloit. Moved out to Oregon in 1968.

Well now Im not sure when I will be picking it up. The truck was supposed to be a dealer trade from Salem Or but they decided that someone was still trying to make a deal on it and would not let it go. Actually Im the someone. I looked at this truck on Sunday. I told them I would let them know what I decided on Monday which I did. Told them I was buying from the local dealership here in Corvallis. I wont go into details on what was said but there is a sales man with very red ears. He definitely knows we had no deal! My dealer is supposed to let me know tomorrow whether they are able to get this truck or another.

I had the same situation when I bought my Ram. Took an extra day or two, in the end I got it from my local dealer.

Do the new 2014 Dodge diesels use DEF? That is the only part of the 2012 Ford I don't like!
