Re: Need another Truck
I use 4x4 low whenever I'm backing the Bird up. I don't have a lot of experience backing up a trailer that long and I find the slower speed gives me more time to 'correct' when I screw-up

Re: Need another Truck
thank you all again for your information. I can tell I am dealing with people that have done this a time or two. I am now convinced about the 4x4 and will stick with a dually. I will probably take the advice and stick with the Dually I have. Thanks again.

Jim,
you didn't say where you are located. Any chance you guys will be able to make the Yellowstone rally? Good chance to meet several of these experience RVers and make some new friends.

Re: Need another Truck
Stay away from the 6.0 if you want something for longevity. Yes the Ram's rear leg room sucks, unless you can find a mega cab. But then you have a small box and its challenges. Chevy's are comprable in the space deparment and the durmax after 04 is a very good motor.jim.worrell wrote:Thank you all so much for your input. I have never owned a Fifth Wheel nor any other camper for that matter and I already feel like much better that there is a support network like this. I hate the training wheels as someone mentioned but it probably is the best way to go until I can find a place for my Camper. I just went to look at a 2006 Ford Dually F-350 FX4 Lariat with 6.0 L Diesel and long bed. What a ton of leg room in the back seat. They had a RAM 3500 and it offers around 40% less in the back.
