M2 Business Class RV toter truck for sale

Post by campswithcritters »

Miss Ellie is up on the sales block, plan to buy a Heavy Duty Truck to carry a Smart Car and tote the trailer:
The M2 has no accident
history and no service problems. I bought it new in July 2008. It is
white and has the 8.3 liter 330 hp Cummins 6 cyl turbo diesel.
Equipped with Allison 6 speed automatic and 2 speed engine brake.
It has power windows and locks. Kenwood in dash unit containing XM
sattelite radio, back-up camera, bluetooth for phone, AM/FM, CD/DVD,
and Garmin GPS. All seats are heated and rear seat power folds into a
bed. Block heater and battery charger/maintainer on board. Air ride
front seats, air ride cab, air rear suspension, and trailersaver air
hitch with 32K capacity and 3rd air bag added for up to 7,500 pin
weight. (I won't lie to you here, even with all that air ride stuff it
rides like a truck, all of them do). Also has an air outlet for
servicing tires. Truck currently has just under
27,000 miles (will still be under 30,000 when I get it to sales point
below). I work overseas and travel on my off time (a 6 week on/6
week off schedule), the truck is currently on the road traveling south for winter from
Missouri to Kansas, Oklahoma, then down to the Houston TX area. I can not
sell until the camper is back in Houston where I will have the entire
winter to find a HDT and get it set up to travel. That will be around
the 3rd week of October.
The truck is registered as a private truck in Texas with a 19,500 lb
GVWR (basically an overweight pick-up and I do have clear title to it
(no liens)). Asking US $65,000 from it to purchase and equip a
used HDT. I can afford to sell it this low because I bought it cheap
when fuel was near $5/gal and the dealers could not move them. Fuel
use while pulling is about 8-9 mpg on flat lands at 65 mph likely
better with a lighter trailer as mine is really heavy, I have no idea
what it gets empty as I have never driven it over 100 miles without
the trailer. Fuel capacity is 160 gallons although the gauge shows
pretty low when it needs only 120 gallons. I usually fuel every 800
miles or so.
There are some pictures at
http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h232/ ... ers/truck/
Hopefully that came out as a link, if not just copy and paste it into.
It is a puller and ready for the road with hitch, prodigy elect and air brake controls, just back it under your trailer and press D to travel.

Bruce, you got Miss Ellie, then George got his new rig if I recall correctly. I've seen a couple of HDT rigs with large quads, none with a car.
Is it time to upgrade George?

Last year at our RV Park in Arizona, two HDTs came in. One had a Smart Car sidesaddle and the other a mini cooper for and aft.

Chris
The Smart will already put me over 65 ft total length (can you say illegal in most states)(but it will be close) so no way can do a Mini.

Bruce, that was quick. When we were trying to sell our motor home it took a year and a big hit to the bank account.

Bruce, I looked at your thread on Escapees the other day, haven't checked since. Interesting. Will you be getting a RTR rig, or are you doing the work yourself?

Not sure yet which way I will end up going. On my way now to next weeks Heavy Duty Truck Rally in Hutchison KS. There I hope to gain some insight and hopefully ride in a few trucks to figure out exactly what I want. If I find something already converted it will still likely require modifications for the Smart carry. If I buy used OTR truck it will likely go to 2L or Herrin for bed and some modifications. It is quite involved decision process, do I want to single the truck? How far to go with the mods etc. Just hope to have something ready to roll by May next spring. Good fun in any case, my excitement level is pegging out on the high side. :D
