Miss Ellie was $287 for lube oil & filter including both fuel filters at last dealership visit. Speedco charged $234 for same, needless to say the next truck will visit only Speedco and I shudder to think of the cost. Luckily it is only once a year as I will never exceed the 30,000 mile interval. Huge sump = lots of money.

That is actually a bargain Bruce. The diesel PU owners seem to be touching $100 for a LOF every 5000 miles. At that rate they would have paid $600 for LOF changes at their 30,000 mile service.

Oops, sorry thought you meant $58 for the oil filter. How much DEF have you been getting at each LOF?

I was on a Duramax forum and someone mentioned a $92 LOF at the dealer.

I thought that the Ford 6.0 and 6.4 were around $90+ at the dealer.

Never thought of it as a bargain, but 1 year is a long interval. In my case it is the sheer quantity of oil involved, Miss Ellie held 24 qts, 1 oil filter, and 2 fuel filters (high & low pressure) that truck had this done every 10K which turned out to be 1 yr for us, Cummins required every 15K. I am told the next one with the detroit diesel has 2 oil filters, 2 fuel filters, and around 36 qts of oil, with the oil interval at 30K or one yr and the fuel filts every 10K. Definitely cheaper to drive a pick-up unless you need to carry a car with you and your DW will not drive the car in chase. At least when the truck is getting serviced I can crawl in bed to a comfy nap in the sleeper.

True but the OP was referring to oil changes. Fuel filters and DEF would certainly add to the cost.

Last oil change for mine at the dealer was $87.84. A fuel filter would add almost $90 to that cost. Last time I had the total service done it set me back $199.95.
I figure as long as I've got a warranty I better use the dealer.
Just put new rotors and pads on the front, total was $491.60, so much for the $99 brake jobs!

LOL, with the weights we pull I don't think any of us would be happy with a $99 brake job.

Rob it depends on if im towing, if not I get 1,000 miles per gallon of DEF which cost 4.95/gallon at the dealer so i average 3 to 4 gallons per oil change. Towing to Yellowstone then over to Bend and some in town driving when I went in for my oil change it took 5 gallons for about 3,400 miles.

Sounds cheaper than a 08 motor which just threw diesel fuel at $3 per gallon down the exhaust pipe, I know for a fact my 08 got 2 mpg less than a similar equipped 06. Add that up and the DEF is cheap! Looking forward to owning an 05 motor again with only a EGR Valve for emissions.

Yes I believe they do Rob, but everything I read says they do it while getting much better mileage.

That's why Gas is always an option. And the E flasher pop on automatically when it goes up any hill.

You talking to yourself Rob Well yes they do still regen but they do it with an injector now and they do not just dump fuel into the exhaust like the 08 did. But with that said instead of a 300 mile regen its now around 750 miles and takes longer so dont know if there is much of a difference. I get the same mileage as my 2004 Dodge got and my 08 did towing and running empty. Yup the DEF is not to expensive, the main problem I have is remembering i have to deal with it. I still am not use to having another tank of something to worry about and they really need to put a gauge on that tank .
