After Market Fuel Tanks
First I must grin here a little. My 05 LLY 3500 duramax cannot get any of the mileage claims like RVTHEREYET says he gets. So, I bought and installed just this past weekend a 98 gal. across the bed, TransferFlow Fuel tank to get me to the next fuel stop. Factory is a 34 gal tank and I cannot ever get the last 3 gallons out of it so, it is 31 for all practical purposes. I get 14 to 15 mpg unloaded and 8 to 9.8 towing my Bird. I am a 4x4 and a dually crew so that maybe a mpg difference to RVTHEREYET but, no one I know in 2x or 4x get over 20 on the highway with these big Silverado 3500s.rvthereyet wrote:I WAS THINKING ABOUT ALSO ADDIND A AUX. TANK BUT WHAT THEY WANTED I ENDED UP BUYING PROPANE INJECTION FOR MY TRUCK ITS ABOUT SAVING MONEY NOT SPENDING HIGHER FUEL PRICES FOR LONGER TRIPS.
Now for the grin. My new fuel tank and I live 7 miles from the Mexican border and diesel down across is $2.33 a gallon as of this AM. Dealer here tells me the fuel down there is as good as ours on this side and no problem with running it. No problems with any trucks for any warranty claims. SO..... quess where my big red TV is getting fuel now?

donde esta mi postal de gasolina? heck just fill up drive back and sell it at a profit and you could retire!
Recently having traveled with my 66 year old father and having a 10 year old daughter and 30 ish wife, I have yet to find anyone who can go more than 325 miles without a pee stop! So we look for gas then, plus to put 100 or 150 gallons in at once I think my wallet may run and hide

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
Just ordered a Titan replacement tank for my TV. Will now have a 52 gallon tank rather than the 35 gallon tank that came with the truck. Potty stops will still be the same but having to buy fuel will be further down the road.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
Got the fairly pricey Titan Tank. They say it is 55 gals. Not sure it is that big in actual usage. Did not want the bed tanks as I have a tool box behind the cab and did not want to give up the real estate. The install was tricky. If I lived closer, I would gladly pay the $99 install charge. I like the convenience, not the price I paid. You can never justify it solely on $$$. Probably would go with a combo tool/fuel box if I had to do it over.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
I wish I saw this eariler. I have a 96 gal KSH fuel tank/tool box in my truck. It is NOT a flow trhu tank but, acts as a second tank with a selector switch in the cab. Main tank and aux tank. Its not cheap but works well.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
I'm happy with the Transfer Flow 50 gal toolbox/tank. Now the tools, tie downs, snatch strap, chocks, etc. are out of the cab or loose in the bed and in the toolbox. I got some rolls of toolbox liner from Harbor Freight and put that in the toolbox to keep things from shifting around. It took two 72"X18" rolls. The last time I fueled the price was $3.74. Shouldn't need to fuel until we head to Salt Lake City next month.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
I replaced the original 30 gal tank on my 2008 F-350 with a 47 gal Transfer Flow mid ship replacement tank. No regrets, love the extended tow miles while on the road, plus the time I don't waste having to fill up while towing. In July 2009 Transfer Flow was willing to negotiate price and shipping, I paid a shop $350.00 to do the install.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
We were visiting my in-laws near Chico, so I scheduled the instillation at the Transfer Flow factory. $99, and because they needed to fuel both the main and aux tank in my case to calibrate the system, $3.15 @ gallon for 56 gallons of diesel from their tank, way less then the $3.75 or so at the time at a station.

Mike, you are so going to love that extra 50 gallons. No more "biting nails" if you miss a fuel stop!Mike Clay wrote:in about 45 days i will have my new 50 gallon transferflow tank installed in Chico on the way to Jackson.

Re: After Market Fuel Tanks
Transfer Flow does a surgically clean install. They will remove fuel from old tank, refill it and top off to calibrate so you know what your gauge really is reading. They give tours of the factory. Very cool to see. FYI, the sandwich shop next to the Chico Airport terminal is good eating. About a 1/2 mile stroll up the street (west) from TransferFlow. Install was about 2-1/2 hours. I have the 60 gal. factory replacement tank. Took me all day when I did it at home on my previous truck. Worth every cent, plus they will dispose of the original tank, unless you need to keep it.
