Re: RECALL of Ford 6.4 diesel
I just received my recall notice for 11B23 Customer satisfaction notice. Hmmmph! I am satisfied as is, with no issues. I am not anxious to reduce mileage any. Each time a reflash of the ECM occurs the mileage drops. Interesting note in the fine print on the back. They give us until April 2012 for the "Free" upgrade. It also says failure to have the upgrade completed may give Ford cause to void our warranty should claims come out of related problems. Does not sound like a voluntary action to me. I am not experiencing any of the issues mentioned previously. Ah, progress...

Re: RECALL of Ford 6.4 diesel
I just received mine today. I'll get it done, somehow, before the end of the month, the truck is coming up on a 5k mile check anyway. With the Extended Powertrain Warranty it becomes "Mandatory" as far as I can see. I just wish the Service Dept was open on Saturday.

Re: RECALL of Ford 6.4 diesel
Stopped at the dealer today, it appears that the notices started getting delivered last Friday around here, the gal at the service desk said people started calling Monday morning as soon as they opened. I have a Monday morning appointment next week. Supposed to take one hour.
I'll find out quickly if this "flash" knocks down the MPG, we're leaving for Salt Lake City Saturday, April 2nd. I have been getting around 9.8 to 10 MPG pulling the 'Bird.

Got my notice yesterday, made an appointent for Thursday to get it done, along with some rear brakes.

Re: RECALL of Ford 6.4 diesel
Good morning, I have a recall on my 2010 6.4 diesel. I am getting the recall completed this week. The problem i am having is poor fuel mileage 9.7 and white smoke blowing out of the tail pipe on a regular basis. The said recall had something to do with an adjustment in the computer. Does anyone else have this issue with the 6.4.

Rick, here's a link to the PCM Recall 11B23 topic at the Ford Truck Enthusiast site: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/10473 ... 11b23.htmlcapthunter wrote:Good morning, I have a recall on my 2010 6.4 diesel. Some people who have gotten this are reporting better MPG. I'll find out about that on our trip Saturday to Salt Lake City pulling the 'Bird. I'm filling up as soon as I leave the dealership for the 11B23 flash update so I won't have to fill up with the 'Bird in tow.
If you search the FTE site for white smoke and mpg you'll find a few topics discussing this. There are many suggestions, and lots of confusion expressed about this. If you have a good diesel mechanic at your dealership, have them check the truck out.

Also, according to my service dealer this modification is suppose to reduce or do away with that smoke, we will see...
