What to do when your truck breaks and you are stranded. Have a tiny glass of beer :d

I KNOW the feeling, but a tiny glass of beer, nah that ain't tiny, a PITCHER works better! :)

Glad you're on the road, we just got back from Lake Isabella, and I had my foot in it, because I'm working on emptying the aux tank before I go in and order a new truck. 9.3 mpg for the trip. Now I'm sitting on the edge, "Should I?" I'm at the point where the trade in value equals the loan payoff, so ...

It all depends on Washington D.C. Interest rates go north, nah. Put a hold on my Military Retirement check, I'll wait.

Jeff, you planning on trading your Ford in for a GM Duramax or another pretty face Ford.

That's cold Olbird.
So far I'm averaging 10.8 mpg on this trip in my GMC - 2,213 miles so far. Just got to drive less than 67 mph (in a 75 zone). Toughest pull was leaving the Rally CG on 244 to 16. Right by MT Rushmore for 1 more look. Truck worked great. :thumbrt: :thumbrt:

George, it'll be another F350 CC long bed DRW. A 2012 with the 6.7 diesel and 4X4 with 3:73 limited slip rear axle. Lariat package. I'm fond of trucks that "just work". I also want one that sips (gulps) less fuel, and a 6.4 diesel with 4:10 gears gets thirsty over 60 mph. Becides I like the 2012 grill, wish I could order it in RED! :)) :d

Mike, did you ever see the video of a VW Bug with a hitch on the roof towing a trailer? Your picture reminds me of that. :)

Jeff, you sure will do better with the 3.73 gears and the new power engines will pull just as hard as your 4.10 gears while getting better mileage.

I did too, till I checked the specs on mine. 2000 rpm, 60 mph. It might of changed with the intro of the 6.4 diesel. I looked at a 2011 F450 outfitted the same as what I'm ordering, but F450's DO have 4:30 gears.

Sure hope so, everything I've been seeing on sites like the FTE forums point that way. IF diesel was cheaper, and I don't believe it will ever get below the current price per gallon, I'd never consider trading in Bubba until a few more years from now.

Plus the heated/cooled leather seats, two tone paint...

I do like "LATER then Sooner" myself. The three trucks I've driven since '08 have a combined total of over 200,000 miles with one problem. The '08 gasser work truck had the computer fail, driving away from the house, at 120,000 miles. Limped 3 or 4 blocks back home and called the tow truck to take it to the dealer. Lucked out BIG TIME! If it had happened in the field, I would of had to go to 4 Low to crawl out to where a tow truck could of gotten to me at most of my sites. :)
