6.0 Diesel Class Action Suit
Received letter advising that a class action suit has been filed against Ford for owners of 2003-2007 Ford vehicles with 6.0 diesel. States if my vehicle received one or more repairs during it's first five years or 100,00 miles to a fuel injector, EGR valve or cooler, oil cooler, or turbocharger then I may be a member of a proposed settlement and entitled to reimbursement. Supposedly, I don't have to take any action if I wish to participate. If the court approves settlement I can then submit a claim. Anyone else received or familiar with this action? What's your take on it? Thanks in advance,

Re: 6.0 Diesel Class Action Suit
Last time I saw one of those Class Action settlement's if was for about $20 for everyone except the lawyers. Better then nothing, as long as I wasn't out any money or time for the lawsuit. Personally I think they're B.S. Whoever gets hit with a Class Action lawsuit covers the loss by raising prices to cover the additional expenses, or goes out of business via bankruptcy, without the injured parties getting anything of value. Just the lawyers.
Now, if the Court sharply reduced the fee's, say by 3/4th, the lawyers who initiated the Class Action get paid, and increased the settlement to the injured parties by that amount, I would feel differently. This has turned into a full time business for far too many law firms and individuals and perverted the legal system.
Off my soap box now.

There was a Levy jean class action years ago. I was informed to expect payment. That had to have been 10 to 20 years ago. I guess the check is in the mail.
Maybe it was mailed in China!

Or the AT&T one I was in years ago. Resulted in a 20% off coupon on any accessory in their cell phone store (fine print: priced $10 or less and coupon expired about 3 weeks after I got it). Of course none of us in California had AT&T for cellphones anymore since they had backed out of the market at that time. Left a bad taste for that company!

Re: 6.0 Diesel Class Action Suit
I agree with Jeff. I got a check last year for a class action suit against Farmers Ins., less than $100. Settlement papers showed lawyers got millions.
One of the reasons prices keep going up even in a "down" economy.

The lawyers are the ones that get the money, I wouldn't help them.

Re: 6.0 Diesel Class Action Suit
As long as lawyers can file class action claims, without worrying about repercussion, and get paid for about 1/3 of them, what's to stop them? They're money ahead.
