Abilene State Park, TX

Post by Rob & Cathy »

After leaving the rally we decided to leave the resort camping and head for the woods for a couple of days. This is the second Texas state park we've visited while on this trip and so far I've been very impressed.

Our campsite, very peaceful and relaxing.

We hadn't been here more that a couple of hours and we had a visitor.

Bill - 50 was taken but we got 52 and there is plenty of room for the 5th-wheel as you can see. Thanks for the recommendation.

Oh wow, how special is that. Nice to know so far you have found nice state parks in Tx. I have a kiddo in Tx. I may be taking the bird to visit some day. Do they have FHU or are they dry camping? Thanks for your propane detector input. :)

Hi Karen, we haven't stayed at any Texas state parks with FHUs but they both had W & E.

Today we went to the Buffalo Gap Historic Village only a few miles from the park. The village include buildings and equipment depicting life in the arrea from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

An old wagon axle outside a frontier cabin that has seen better days.

The view out one of the courthouse windows. The courthouse is one of the few buildings still in it's original location.
