Yes Jeff, dropping the exhaust to under the truck to keep the soot under the trailer instead of on the front corner. This is a pre-emissions motor, it has EGR but no DPF, urea tank, or catalytic converter so there will be soot. You folks with the older model trucks will know what I am talking about. ;) Good thing is better economy, as per the company records this truck has averaged 7.2 mpg with the average weight of 72,500 lbs and no speed governor as many govern to 62 to 65 mph. I will likely be around 40K on weight so hoping for near 10 mpg. My M2 got 7.2 on average at 38K weight so this will help.

Delivery expected early March, several additional mods being incorporated but can not discuss until unveiling by 2L Trucks on their website and Escapees website. Builder says he is gonna "blow it out of the water." the tension builds.

From the reports I've seen, you got your new rig at the right time. Used HD truck demand is up, so's the prices. More demand in all the transportation sectors.

No George the bed build price is set. He wanted to use this idea on a show model, but with the economy situation he will do it on mine but take plenty pics for his website. This way at least he is getting the advertisement with me paying for it even if his profit is lower.
The only extra I am paying for is painting fenders & skirts to match the Smart.

I agree it was good timing on the buy, but remember I also sold the M2 and took a bit of a beating to sell it quick. Now I own a used truck with 15 times the mileage on it. At least I don't need to break it in!

Ok guys, I have some questions, we have a 2006 f-350 and yep you guessed it 6.0 diesel, we have heard horror stories about this truck. We love the truck but with 22,000 miles on it we have had to replace the center rotateing houseing assembley of the Turbo. The dealer told us that we needed to add Cetane to the fuel, which we didnt know being our first diesel. They said the poor fuel caused the problem. The dealer also told us to drain the water from the primary fuel filter monthly. We worry about this truck in the future, we are worried about when in June our warrenty is up. Should we renew it or get rid of the truck. It is almost paid off and at our age we hate to have to start over again, just looking for some opions. We do love our truck. And we are a Ford family. Both our families had Fords as we were going up. My dad raced Fords.

The only ones that can answer the question is yourselves. Yes the 6.0 has some problems, but not every one of them. Is it cheaper to keep it and pay for occasional repairs or buy new? If you buy new is Fords new engine going to be better in the long run reliability wise? As for cetane boost, I have never added to 2 cummins Dodges, 1 duramax Chevy, or a cummins powered Freightliner and have had no problems. That sounds like the dealer blaming anything but the product. Do you see the big trucks at fuel stops adding anything? Very few do so in my experience.

Personally I'm not a fan of extended warranties. When the truck is paid off that's money in your pocket every month and you can do a lot of work on the truck for the $60K price tag of a new diesel truck.

I doubt I'd ever buy a new diesel, but a good used F350/450, 2009 and newer I'd look at. Lots of truck for much less money.

For what its worth .....the Ambulances that are Fords, in these neck of the woods, add "Cetane Boost", so...............................If I was Running a Ford of that year, I would think hard about it. ;)

I'm not one for buying used but I would buy a truck from the previous year that is still on the lot where it's not unusal to see $10k off the price.

I have found the extended warranty can be of benefit, however, I make sure it was one backed by the manufacturer of my truck! I have read too many horror stories from people who bought those supposed warranties from some aftermarket outfit. Seems they always have some excuse to not pay and then the consumer is stuck with having paid the premium and the cost of the repair.
If your truck is running fine and you like it I'd say keep it, if it's been giving you problems, then you might aught consider getting rid of it. With 22,000 miles it's just getting broken it, that engine should last for several hundred thousand miles if properly maintained.
