I thought about a slotted tailgate but I gave it up for a “Pace BedLocker”. http://www.pace-edwards.com/bedlocker.html
I just close it up to the hitch. When I'm not towing I can close it and cover the hitch and anything else I may have in the bed.

Good choice Wayne I've had mine for just over two years. As you can see in the photo I travel with the cover half closed and locked to secure items I store forward to the hitch.
Once unhitched I can close and lock the cover and lock the tailgate.
I know you don't live where the wind blows sand. Any idea how the cover would stand up in an area where the air is full of dirt several days a year? I like the idea of the lockable cover but don't want to by a maintenance problem.
Thanks,
Bill

I have the JR also really like it with the exception on my truck the back of the pin mount hits on a very sharp turn.

Good question. I know when we lived in FL sand was always a problem. It acts like grinding powder when it gets into things. Perhaps this would be a better solution for you; http://www.pace-edwards.com/jackrabbit.html
It's the same cover but without the motor or you can call Pace Edwards directly (1-888-231-2686). I'm sure they could answer your question.

The sand issue BMullins46 is talking about is very fine sand that can get through closed windows and doors. Even if they have been weather stripped. He lives in an area where he sees Oklahoma blow by in the morning and New Mexico blow by in the afternoon!

You got that right! It's more like talcum powder and can get in anything. I was talking to a friend who runs a pickup accessory place about one of those roll up covers several years ago and he said the sand made them hard to operate in no time.
